Longline Corset - This can be an underbust or overbust corset, but instead of stopping above the hip, it extends down over the hipbone. This makes for a smoother hip area and a much longer corset. Since this corset covers the hipbone, it's important to wear it with a tight fitting skirt or pants (like a trumpet or fishtail/mermaid skirt). Longline corsets can be great for women with long torsos, but for the rest of us, they can be tough to sit down in comfortably. It's not the most practical piece to have in your wardrobe, but it does create a more dramatic silhouette than a traditional corset. For this reason, you won't see longline corsets as often in Steampunk fashion, but when you do, it's usually part of a showstopping look.
