By the end of the Victorian era, everyone was sick of petticoats and bustles. Corsets remained in fashion, but a woman's natural hips were now emphasized, with tight skirts that fit snugly over the hips and flared dramatically at the mid thigh. This is a very popular skirt style in Steampunk fashion, as it's also appreciated as a sexy modern silhouette. The flare of a trumpet skirt can start anywhere from mid thigh to just above the knee.
